3rd Grade

Students use the art making process to arrange the elements of art to narrate ideas through collage and illustration. Students create utilitarian objects and compare how culture influences artistic design. We learn how to judge, interpret, describe, and analyze art during group discussions using academic language.

4th Grade

Students apply the elements of art to discuss, create, and self-reflect for personal growth. We create ambiguous collaborative works that sparks creative thinking, and problem solving.  Students create interdisciplinary designs that utilize the elements and principles of art. We critique works of art using academic language and explore painting and illustrative techniques.

5th grade

Students in 5th grade apply and organize the elements and principles of art to design works that reflect student interests and communicate a personal message. Students understand how to critique art and articulate their opinion through having collaborative discussions with peers. Students generate new ideas and techniques through experimenting with media and engage in choice based projects to implement knowledge and skills.
