Grades K - 2 Overview
kindergarten
Students in kindergarten are learning artistic behavior as they implement the elements of art to construct imagery from their imagination or the world around them. In art we learn about different types of media and the correct application to achieve craftsmanship in a work of art.
1st Grade
Students organize the elements of art to construct imagery from their imagination and the world around them. We learn how to identify the elements of art in collaborative discussions and projects. We continue to practice the correct application of media to achieve craftsmanship and utilize the principles of design.
2nd Grade
Students explore the art making process through experimenting with tools, techniques, and non-traditional media. Using prior knowledge students use academic language to describe their personal choices and creative process. We learn how to use the elements of art to effectively communicate our ideas and emotions.
